Sorry I'm confused. Are my posts offending anyone? If they are I'll happily leave.

With regards to 'the ban' I am doing nothing illegal, neither is my supplier. The only person breaking any law is the person that transfers or is responsible for the transfer across the Brazilian boarder. I have no idea how that happens, or who does it I dont speak portuguese or spanish so cannot communicate with the natives.

Okay the Loricadae ban in Brazil is a local ban which is restricted to the brazilian boarders. I have checked with British authorities and they gave me that explanation I am free to bring them in.

Where there is demand there will be supply, usually these fish are destined for the far east never do reaching european shores, I have been watching the brazilian hydro electric dam projects and the Xingu dam will start to be built within the next decade. Meaning that everything down river will become drought ridden wasteland and once that happens in move the cattle. Many of our truelly beloved fish will be lost to for economic growth. In my opinion these fish should be exported as there are many gifted aquarits that could easily form breeding projects to secure the long term survival of many species. If only zoological societies would recognise there plight and help us by throwing there weight around.

The scenario - one Brazilian Governing Body (IBAMA) bans exports on the grounds of scientific research, stating that these fish maybe harvested for the ornamental trade before they are scientifically identified. Another much larger governing body is planning to build an enormous hydro-electric dam which will effectively turn the tap off on the mighty Rio Xingu and will affect most of its tributaries all wild life fish and fauna and native tribes people.

I am sure that this topic must have been discussed in great detail on this and other German forums, you guys are a nation of gifted and dedicated fish enthusists.

My arguement is "what is the point in scientifically identifying a species if it will soon be extinct" that will happen, look on Google earth there is some some huge equipment being moved into that area of jungle already.

Thanks stefan, I think your post is supportive, they are beautiful looking creatures and I cannot wait to receive them. I already have serious collectors/breeders in the UK and Germany waiting for there groups.

Would anyone mind if I continued updating this thread? I don;t want to upset anyone or get involved with arguement/discussion about the ban.

Alan
