Etymologie:
Der Artname ist aus dem Griechischen abgeleitet und weist auf die "plumpe" Gestalt hin.
Besonderheiten:: Chaetostoma stroumpoulos kommt sympatrisch mit Chaetostoma daidalmatos in Höhen von etwa 600 m vor. Weitere Arten im Rio Huallaga sind Chaetostoma marmorescens, die in Höhen von etwa 1800 m vorkommt, und Chaetostoma changae auf Höhen von etwa 600 m.
