Etymologie:
Aus dem Griechischen "eurys" (breit) und "kephale" (Kopf).
Besonderheiten:
Über diese Art ist nur wenig bekannt. Vermutlich sind die meisten wenn nicht alle Aquarienexemplare nicht identisch mit Aspidoras eurycephalus, sondern Aspidoras sp. "CW119".

Neueren Analysen zufolge handelt es sich bei Aspidoras eurycephalus nur um ein Synonym zu Aspidoras albater, welcher ebenfalls aus dem Rio Tocantins-Becken stammt.
