Brasilien, Bundesstaat Para, Rio Jamanxim und dessen Zufluss dem Igarapé Santa Júlia, Rio Tapajós Becken
Größe:
Das größte Exemplar der Typenserie misst 2,96 cm, was einer Gesamtlänge von knapp 4 cm entspricht.
Wasserwerte:
Temperatur 22-27 °C
Etymologie:
Benannt nach einer fiktiven Figur Psamathos Psamathides von J.R.R. Tolkien, einem Sand-Hexenmeister in Anspielung auf die sandgebundene Lebensweise.
Besonderheiten:
Die Art kommt in der Natur zusammen mit Hoplisoma apiaka und "CW171" vor. Das Bild oben zeigt den Holotyp (29,4 mm SL) aus dem Igarapé Santa Júlia, einem Zufluss des Rio Jamanxim.
