Etymologie:
Der Artname ist ein Hinweis auf die lange Schnauze.
Besonderheiten:
Die Art verfügt über relativ viele Zähne (38-42 prämaxillar und 32-38 mandibular) und dié namensgebende lange Schnauze.
In 2022 ist die Art in die neu aufgestellte Gattung Rhinotocinclus überstellt worden.
