L240 spawn

Does anyone know how long it takes for eggs to hatch leporancanthicus my L240 have spawned and would like to know when they will hatch and should I take the eggs from the male, I have been checking the eggs daily and they look good no fungus, this is their second spawn the first one there was no survivors so I am wondering if I should do something different this time?

Hi,

I think L240 needs 5-6 days to hatch like L264.
The first times after spawning I let the eggs by the male. But nowadays I take it after 2-3 days from it.
Hope this helps!

With best regards
Frank

Hi,

normally it takes about five to six days for the eggs to hatch. It depends pretty much on the temperature in the tank. If you´ve got about 30 degrees, they will hatch much faster than in a tank with only 26 degrees. In my opinion it´s the best to seperate the father together with the hole and all the eggs in a seperate tank or a splitted part of the big one. That way you will be able to control the fries best. And if the father suddenly should stop to care about his eggs, you can bring them up much easier.

best regards, Daniel

Hi Daniel,

that will be not helping if the male is hungry ^^.
Like in my case, several times behind one another :-(.
