Etymologie:
Die Art ist nach der Herkunft der Nassau Mountains benannt.
Besonderheiten:
Die Art kommt in den Nassau Mountains syntop mit Harttiella crassicauda vor, beide Arten sind dort endemisch. In der Aquaristik ist diese Art unbekannt.
Guyanancistrus nassauensis bleibt im Vergleich zu der Tieflandart Guyanancistrus brevispinis deutlich kleiner und ist auch deutlich breiter gebaut. Die Art scheint sich ähnlich wie Harttiella crassicauda (vs. den Harttia-Arten im Tiefland) an die kleinen hoch gelegenden Bachläufe angepasst zu haben.
